PLN
There are a lot of PLN tools available for teachers to use. One PLN that I feel would be extremely useful is Pinterest. Pinterest would allow teachers to constantly gather new ideas about different things such as decorating classrooms to creating assignments. Pinterest will also aid in being creative because teachers are able to get inspiration from the things other teachers have done in their classrooms or are thinking about doing. Another PLN that I believe is helpful to teachers is Facebook. Facebook allows you to join groups and see other people's posts. By joining a certain group you can communicate with people on certain topics and share ideas. Also, some things they might share may help in your classroom and advice you can give may help them in theirs. It is a tool that will help teachers keep open minds and be familiarized with different approaches they can take towards specific issues they may encounter. I love the idea of teachers using Pinterest! It's a great way to be able to decorate their classrooms, or even share awesome lesson plans - slash - DIY's with other teachers that they work with, or that are even outside of their district!
ReplyDeleteFacebook has a great community and the ability to create private groups that only teachers can be invited to in order to share ideas for the classroom or even event ideas! I never fully realized that social media could be so helpful to teachers.
I also talked about Pinterest and Facebook. I think they are both very useful and are definitely helpful tools for teachers. Both allow teachers to connect with others and gain new ideas.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and Jacquie that Pinterest for teachers is awesome! I wrote about it in my own blog. Sharing ideas is not only beneficial to other teachers but it also inspires and provokes new ideas.
ReplyDeleteFacebook is so great because it is so easy to make groups and form a community with people. Many people already have a developed Facebook account and check it regularly so a teacher can reach out for help and get immediate feedback from peers.
