ILP #1

For my ILP, I decided to complete an interview with a teacher who has used technology in her classroom. This teacher's name is Nicole Lawhon and she is my aunt. The interview took place over the phone. While she is currently not teaching, she was an EBD teacher at Riversink Elementary. Her students varied in grades each year and she used technology a lot in her classroom.        One technological tool that was useful for Miss. Lawhon was using ClassDojo. This is similar to an app and it's where she could track her students individually or as a group. It records their behavior and is a point based system that the teacher controls. Not only was this program easy for her to use, ClassDojo also lets the parents see how their kids are doing. After discussing the program, I asked Miss. Lawhon if she would suggest using this program in my future classroom and she highly recommends it for all educators. After she began using it, she ended up being her s...

For this assignment I chose to look at the website for Springwood Elementary School, which is located in Tallahassee, Florida. I viewed a few websites before choosing this one, and this school’s site impressed me with the amount of information they provide for their parents and students. For example, they have a lot of different sections for each category of people that may be using the site. Some examples are, “about the school”, separate sections for parents and students, and the even have a tab for their employees. When you go on the different parts of the website you can find just about any piece of information or document that you may need. They have information on the website for all parents and students of every grade level to access, and they even have a portion dedicated to the different programs the school offers.      I envision using technology as a future educator in many different ways to be more productive. I will use th...

Diigo Bookmarking

For this assignment, I chose to use the site http://www.academicsuperstore.com/. To begin with, after evaluating it using C.R.A.A.P., I personally feel it is a good quality site. The currency is up to date. Their links all work and they even offer products to sell that were just released in 2017. The website is also relevant, it works not only for this assignment but is a good source for educators.      Furthering my evaluation of the website, I looked into the authority aspect. The website is a ".com" and it also had contact information provided. There is even an "about us" section available for users to read. The accuracy of the website seems to be reliable. What it promotes and offers is targeted to a certain set of people, educators. The site seems to be unbiased and used for the purpose of selling these products to teachers. Finally, the website's purpose is to sell things and it goes about that well. It offers a variety of things and has several l...

Web 2.0 tools are getting more and more popular as the internet is constantly continuing to grow. I think these tools are very helpful to use in the classroom. I believe they are useful because they allow learning to be more engaging and they give students the chance to connect with more people. I think social media sites are one tool that can be helpful in the classroom because they allow a platform for students to share their thoughts and spread messages they want to get out. Social media sites are also something a lot of students today are already comfortable using, therefore, it makes it easier to incorporate it into lessons. I also think that blogs are a good tool to use in the classroom as well. Blogs provide a way for students to get to share their thoughts, bond with their classmates, and have a chance to be creative with their thoughts.      One type of tool that I do not find as beneficial to use in the classroom is some sear...

Web Evaluation

The subject I chose for this assignment is elementary school mathematics. The first website I found is called www.mathplayground.com . To begin with the website is current. All the links work and the copyrights are for 2018. The links provided work and take you to things such as interactive games that will help students practice their math skills. This website is also relevant to younger elementary math students. The problems and games available to practice are relevant to what those aged students will be learning and will be able to be incorporated into their math lessons. This websites authority has been confirmed. There is a section for " about us " that users can click on and learn more about the site. In this section I learned who the creator was and about how she is a math teacher. This website is also a " .com ", therefore, it is unrestricted.        The next part of evaluating this website was for accuracy. I believe it is...

My experience using Twitter so far has been interesting. I've mainly interacted with a few of my fellow classmates and some education related accounts. These interactions have allowed me to see different things involving education from other people's perspectives. As a future teacher, this will be helpful for me because it will help me keep an open mind about things and will allow me to see different methods I could use in my teaching. Different students learn more effectively when taught with different methods, and looking at these Twitter accounts can aid in keeping me up to date on new approaches I could use in my teaching.       The "Digital Divide" can impact student success in many ways. To begin with, not having access to the Internet, computer resources, etc. throughout their schooling can have a negative impact on their life after graduation. They will not have the confidence or knowledge to use the technology most people in t...

There are a lot of ELA technology standards and after looking at them I have realized there are several I know how to use, and there are also many I need practice with before I would be able to use them in the classroom. One standard I am extremely familiar with is W/WHST.2 "Write to explain/inform" . I have used this standard a lot throughout my school career. I have used the standard when writing papers and doing projects for school.  This standard is the one I would feel most comfortable teaching in my future classroom as of right now.   Another standard I am familiar with is RL.7 "Multimedia: Literature". This is another standard that I have had to use throughout my schooling. Many of my teachers have incorporated literature into things such as their PowerPoints etc. and I have incorporated it into my projects as well.       One standard I will need more practice with before using it in the classroom is SL.5 "Use Digi...
